Creation of DOFil will help protect Filipinos abroad, says Bong Go as he demanded justice for murdered OFW in Abu Dhabi and offered help to the family
Senator Christopher Bong Go expressed that his proposed measure creating the Department of Overseas Filipinos will be acted upon by the Senate soon to provide better services, and further protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipinos abroad. I m not losing hope, Go said in an interview done after he provided assistance to Batasan TODA Members in Quezon City on Wednesday, February 3.
The Senator explained that the Senate Bill No. 1949, otherwise known as the Department of Overseas Filipinos (DOFil) Act of 2020, has been referred back to the Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development after the Senate Committee on Rules gave the green light for committee deliberations.

MANILA, Philippines Sen. Bong Go has appealed to the government for greater protection and assistance to overseas Filipino workers and their families, as he extended his condolences to the family of a murdered Filipino worker in Abu Dhabi.
The suspect in the murder of Mary Anne Daynolo in Abu Dhabi last year has confessed to the crime, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.
The remains of Daynolo, who went missing in March, arrived in Manila on Saturday.
“I offer my deepest condolences to Mary Anne’s family for her untimely passing. Their grief and pain at this time are beyond words. My thoughts and prayers are with them and everyone who loved her,” Go said.

Protection of overseas Filipinos welfare must be prioritized, says Bong Go as Senate panel okays committee deliberations on DOFil bill
Senator Christopher Bong Go issued a strong appeal to the government to provide greater protection and assistance to overseas Filipinos and their families amid the struggles they face caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and other crisis situations abroad.
Go also raised concerns on recent unfortunate incidents, such as allegedly abused Filipinos in Syria, as well as the shocking murder of Mary Anne Daynolo in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
