Pakistan and Russia, during the recent visit of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Islamabad, have agreed to intensify efforts to deepen cooperation in a myriad of sectors, the Foreign Office said on Friday. During the delegation-level talks, the two sides agreed on the need to intensify efforts to deepen cooperation in all areas, including economy and trade, energy, counter-terrorism, security and defence, education, and people-to-people exchanges, said FO spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri in the weekly briefing in Islamabad today.

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives on Monday after a ferry carrying around 50 passengers collided with a cargo vessel and sank on April 4 in the Shitalakhsya River, south of Bangladesh s capital Dhaka.
At least 26 people have so far been reported dead, whereas a few are still missing.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri expressed heartfelt condolences to the government and brotherly people of Bangladesh and the bereaved families.

The Foreign office has said there is no change in Pakistan s position on the Kashmir issue.
Briefing the Kashmir Committee in a meeting in Islamabad, with its Chairman Shehryar Khan Afridi in the chair, Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Pakistan s position is anchored on the United Nations resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Addressing the meeting the Chairman Kashmir Committee urged private TV channels to develop tele-films, dramas and special awareness programmes to project Kashmir dispute.
The resolution passed by the committee on the occasion called for release of detained Kashmiri leaders who have been subjected to inhuman treatment in prisons and demanded to shift all the women prisoners of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir back to Kashmiri prisons.
