ISLAMABAD: As Covid-19 cases drop to the lowest since the beginning of the pandemic’s third wave, the Foreign Office said on Sunday it was heartening to see Pakistan moving forward in its anti-Covid fight, however, the country recorded 76 deaths and 1,629 positive cases during the last 24 hours.
Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri wrote on Twitter that due to effective policies and timely interventions, the Covid-19 positivity ratio in Pakistan dropped to 3.1 per cent lowest since the beginning of current wave of the pandemic. He said the total active cases in the country were down to 47,764. “Heartening to see Pakistan Moving Forward in its fight against the pandemic,” the spokesman remarked.

Police in India have arrested seven people and seized 6.4 kilogrammes of uranium from their possession, Indian media reported on Friday, marking the second time in less than a month that authorities have captured a large quantity of the radioactive material from unauthorised persons in the country.

Indian Express, the incident took place in the eastern state of Jharkhand in Bokaro district. The report said that officials had not yet arrested the prime suspect from whom the substance was procured.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday expressed the hope that the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) would send out a strong message to Israel to end hostilities in occupied Palestinian territories and move towards a just solution of the longstanding dispute.
“We hope that the special meeting of the UN General Assembly would help send a strong message on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the international community to help end the Israeli aggression and to take concrete steps to find a just solution to the Palestinian issue,” Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said at the weekly media briefing.
