Bell Law Firm Files Malpractice Lawsuit Against MAK Anesthesia
Routine procedure leads to fire causing serious burns on 10-year-old girl s face
ATLANTA - April 29, 2020 - Lloyd Bell of Bell Law Firm today confirms the filing of a medical negligence and liability lawsuit in Cobb County against MAK Anesthesia and other defendants.
During a routine outpatient procedure to remove a tiny benign lesion from the eyelid of 10-year-old, anesthesiologist Dr. Sheel Todd failed to reduce and clear the oxygen-rich air in the surgical field. This failure caused a fire to break out over her face when the surgeon turned on an electric cautery. As a result, she suffered serious burns and underwent skin-graft surgery. She also received and continues to receive therapy for PTSD and expects to have additional surgeries.
Two others escaped and were receiving treatment for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. Authorities say two family members died in a fire in Bartow County on Easter Sunday.
According to a statement from Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services, crews were called to 170 Oak Leaf Drive at around 7 p.m. to reports of a fire. They arrived to find the home burning heavily and two family members outside. However, those two told first-responders that there were two still missing who were possibly inside.
The two who escaped were taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation injuries. Meanwhile, Bartow County firefighters worked throughout the night to find the remaining victims - a process complicated by the fact that the structure collapsed.
