Community shop donates Captain Sir Tom Moore books to schools across Grantham

A community book store in Grantham has donated books about Captain Sir Tom Moore to schools across Grantham.
Nean Asher, of Community Books, Welby Street, wanted to ensure that pupils were given the opportunity to learn all about Captain Tomâs achievements and legacy.
The mum-of-two said: âWe were all touched by Captain Tomâs story. His determination to raise £1,000 at nearly 100 years old was incredible and the millions he raised was amazing.

âAfter hearing about his sad passing, I went online to see if there was a book about him for children to read. I had already brought his autobiography for my volunteers and I wanted something for my own two children.

A community book store in Grantham donated hundreds of pounds to local good causes despite the Covid-19 pandemic having a huge impact on fund-raising efforts.
Nean Asher, who runs Community Books in Welby Street, Grantham, managed to raise hundreds of pounds in 2020 by creating different ways to fund-raise including games, auctions and making gifts.
Charities including Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, Marie Curie, Sands, Beehive community volunteers and Grantham Passage all received donations ranging from money to food and gifts. Grantham Rescue of Cats and Kittens (ROCK) also received £50 worth of cat food to help them through the pandemic.
Support for first Grantham town centre Advent window tour was phenomenal
âPhenomenalâ feedback has delighted organisers of the first-ever Grantham town centre Advent window tour.
The tour both began and ended with windows unveiled at St Wulframâs Church, on December 1 and Christmas Eve.
It was the idea of Laura Cradduck and husband Father Stuart Cradduck, rector of St Wulframâs Church, and they are thrilled with how well supported it was.

Fr Stuart said: âWeâve been delighted at both the take up of the challenge and indeed how each business responded to the call.
âThere have been some absolutely brilliant entries and we are so grateful that each of these took the time to take part, especially when life has been so difficult for local businesses this year.
