After reading a recent column about the Black presence in Wooster, Jim Hudson wrote he was disappointed the name of barber Carl Woods had been omitted.
“The barbershop,” he wrote, “was located on the south side of East Liberty Street in the vicinity of where the Best Western sits today. Growing up, my Dad and I went there for years. Carl was in the first chair with his cousin Vernon Woods in the second and Clay Mitchell in the third … super nice people and highly thought of in the community.

The Anzac Theatre in Dargaville like all cinemas throughout New Zealand has been hard hit by Covid and, although numbers have picked up slightly this summer, it is not enough to ensure its ongoing viability.
