Image Credit: SUBMITTED/ Vernon RCMP May 12, 2021 - 11:22 AM Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were gratified to be able to help a Vernon woman recover her dog following a dognapping incident that ended happily for the victim. RCMP were called to the 3000 block of 24 Avenue in Vernon yesterday, May 11, around 6:30 p.m., after receiving a report of a small Pomeranian dog being stolen from a resident’s yard. The owner of the dog, known as Chocnut,” had canvassed the neighbourhood and called police after a neighbour reported seeing a woman carrying a small Pomeranian away from the area. Investigators were able to identify a suspect from information provided by the neighbour, and around 11 p.m., after checking several locations throughout the city, police located the woman, along with Chocnut, in the 25000 block of 27 Street.

April 30, 2021 - 1:40 PM Police arrested three people and seized both cash and drugs after a search warrant was executed at a Vernon home on Wednesday. As part of an ongoing investigation that began in January, RCMP searched the residence on April 28 to find significant amounts of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, according to an RCMP news release. They arrested a 24-year-old man, a 27-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman in the search. Targeting beyond the street level dealer is an important step toward impacting drug trafficking groups and contributing to the Vernon RCMP priority of enhancing public safety, Sgt. David Evans of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s targeted policing unit said.
