SAN ANTONIO – More than a year into the coronavirus pandemic, San Antonio families are still struggling to pay rent and other bills.
The city’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program has helped thousands of families since last year, and it still has millions of funds available to help more.
San Antonio resident Theresa Williams applied for the program and said it changed her life.

SAN ANTONIO – Taking city incentives like fee waivers or tax abatements could mean future housing developments in San Antonio would be required to accept housing vouchers, like Section 8, from their renters.
The San Antonio City Council is considering an ordinance that would ban property owners who receive city incentives from refusing to rent to someone who wants to use a housing voucher to help pay their rent. Violating that ordinance, which the council could vote on as soon as April 29, could result in the property owner having to pay the city back and be barred from getting any more incentives in the future.

SAN ANTONIO The CDC’s eviction moratorium in light of the coronavirus pandemic ends March 31st, prompting many to fear whether they’ll have a place to call home next month.
It was early in the pandemic when Christopher Cureton-Emanuel found himself spiraling into financial chaos.
“I lost my job maybe going into two months into it. I went from 40 hours to 10 hours and the cut down to 5 and then let go,” Christopher said.
