In May 2020, officers attached to the Lake Illawarra Police District established Strike Force Mote to investigate organised crime in the Illawarra region, with the assistance of the State Crime Command and the NSW Crime Commission. Following extensive inquiries, just before midday yesterday (Wednesday 12 May 2021), police stopped a 26-year-old man on Weil Avenue, Croydon Park; allegedly in possession of $292,350 in cash. A search of his vehicle allegedly revealed 147g of cocaine inside hidden compartments, with an estimated potential street value in excess of $40,000.

Suspected Vehicle Thief Arrested After Crashing Into Montebello Bus

By City News Service Taking city bus on a rainy evening A man wanted for vehicle theft was arrested today after allegedly crashing another stolen vehicle into the back of a Montebello bus, injuring three passengers. The crash was reported at about 8 a.m. at Whittier Boulevard and Vail Avenue, according to Montebello city spokesman Michael Chee. The stolen vehicle rear-ended the Montebello Bus Lines bus and the vehicle s driver attempted to flee on foot, Chee said. He was quickly spotted by a Montebello police officer and taken into custody. Three bus passengers were taken to Beverly Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, he said.
