Weymouth school officials met this week to discuss the “thin blue line” flag and other pro-police symbols at the high school that have sparked social media debate and dueling petitions by students calling for their removal amid a push for racial justice and those demanding they remain in honor of the late Police Sgt. Michael Chesna and other fallen officers.
“We understand the differing perspectives surrounding modern social topics and the resulting profound emotions and feelings,” Jennifer Curtis-Whipple, superintendent of the school district, said in a statement to Boston25 News.
Among those who have been vaccinated, 74 percent work in hospitals, and 23 percent work in employee health fields, which includes occupational health services. Fewer than 1,000 vaccine doses have gone to people not in hospital or employee health occupations.
