EDITOR S NOTE: Glen Williams lived in Webster s Chapel when the community was struck by a tornado during the April 27, 2011, outbreak, and still owns Foggy Hollow Farm there.
The memory is vivid: At 6 a.m. on April 27, 2011, straight-line winds came through the community of Webster’s Chapel, laying trees across our main roads.
The Webster’s Chapel Volunteer Fire Department worked all day clearing those roads, only to see the community hit by an EF4 tornado at 7 p.m., one of many that ripped thru Alabama that day, from Tuscaloosa to Georgia and on to South Carolina.
Homes, churches, businesses and lives were destroyed in a matter of minutes in the quiet Calhoun County community.
