Public Health Sudbury and Districts reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 in Greater Sudbury on Tuesday.
An additional 16 cases in the health unit’s service area have been resolved. There are currently 245 active cases of COVID-19 in the region, with 237 cases in Greater Sudbury, seven cases in the Sudbury district, and one case in the Manitoulin district.

The health unit also indicated that one new case has screened positive for variants of concern. Time is required to genetically sequence the virus in a positive sample and confirm it as a COVID-19 variant of concern.

Warming Centers Available During Bitterly Cold Temps in Decatur
With extremely cold temperatures arriving this weekend, the Macon County Emergency Management Agency Thursday announced the location of an additional warming center that will be available to the public this weekend. Decatur Eagles Aerie 507, 602 W. King St., will be hosting a Warming Center on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th from 10 am-5 pm. Capacity is 30 people. There will be soft drinks, coffee, soup, hot dogs & chips and cookies provided. There is no charge.
