The system became a tropical depression on Tuesday morning and could become a hurricane on or before Thursday as the system continues to move through favorable atmospheric conditions in the short term.
The system moved westward across Africa during the first part of August and continues to move westward this week at 10-15 mph (15-25 kph).

The area is really stuck in a typically active early summer pattern. It may only change, for the wetter, by Independence Day Weekend.
Next 24 Hours: Overnight will be partly cloudy with low temperatures in the low 70s. The repetitive summertime pattern is expected on Tuesday partial sunshine warms temperatures through the 80s. Where some showers and thunderstorms develop earlier in the day, mainly near the coast, highs may only make it into the upper 80s. For locations that see precipitation holding off until afternoon, the low 90s are possible.

UPDATE (June 28 - 9:45 p.m.) Tropical Storm Danny has weakened after making landfall in South Carolina on Monday, and has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression.
Chief Meteorologist Katy Morgan says there are no big impacts for Middle Tennessee, just a small boost in non-severe storm chances on Tuesday afternoon. -
A Tropical Depression expected to reach the shores of South Carolina on Monday night will potentially impact Tennessee as the week continues.
The National Weather Service (NWS) is tracking Tropical Depression Four, likely to be named Tropical Storm Danny as the storm strengthens and moves into South Carolina.
located near latitude 32.2 North, longitude 79.3 West. The
depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h)
and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple
of days. On the forecast track, the center of the tropical cyclone
should make landfall along coast of South Carolina within the
warning area later this evening.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some slight strengthening is expected today, and the depression is
forecast to become a tropical storm before it makes landfall. Rapid
weakening is forecast after landfall occurs. An Air Force Reserve
reconnaissance aircraft is currently investigating the cyclone.
