Climate journalism enters the solutions era

Esquire summed up the US media’s climate mood board with a feature on traumatized climate scientists, titled, “When the End of Civilization is Your Day Job.” That summer, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration reported another astounding leap in atmospheric CO2 concentrations, and its acting head a Trump appointee reportedly floated purging the word “climate” from the agency’s mission statement. Climate news was frightening, and often frighteningly absurd.
So when
Mothers of Invention, a climate podcast, premiered that summer, it sounded like a broadcast from an alternate, better reality. Disney World Guest Arrested After Refusing Temperature Check
A Louisiana man visiting Disney World was arrested by local law enforcement after refusing to go through with a mandatory temperature check at the park.
The arrest report shows 47-year-old Kelly Sills was confronted outside the Boathouse Restaurant at Disney Springs by the security and Orange County Sheriff s deputies.
According to the deputies, Sills skipped around the temperature screening tent and refused to go back. He then ignored the orders from security guards and deputies to just leave the area.
Bodycam footage shows the whole ordeal, and it was after being told to leave that the officer says He’s going to have to go for the day.

GARY â It won t be too much longer before Hard Rock officials press play on Northwest Indiana s newest gaming and entertainment destination.
Matt Schuffert, president of the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana, confirmed Friday the $300 million facility, which includes a casino, sports book, five restaurants, a Hard Rock Live performance venue and retail shops remains on track to open this spring adjacent to the Borman Expressway at Burr Street. We should be announcing an opening date pretty soon, Schuffert said. We re very excited to get it open. We re making great progress.
Hard Rock currently is in the process of hiring hundreds of new employees to supplement the Majestic Star Casino workers who will transfer to the new Gary casino once the land-based gaming facility opens and replaces the aging Majestic Star boats located at Buffington Harbor on Lake Michigan.
