The Health Resources and Services Administration is taking action against pharmaceutical manufacturers that refuse to provide rural healthcare providers with discounted prescription drugs.
The 340B Drug Pricing Program has a demonstrated record of protecting patients who are low-income, live in underserved communities, or suffer from serious chronic illnesses. However, some drug manufacturers have stopped honoring 340B discounts for drugs dispensed through pharmacies that contracted with 340B providers dramatically increasing the price of those drugs for vulnerable patients and providers.
Nearly half of adults in Charlottesville, Albemarle Co. fully vaccinated, supply outpacing demand (FILE) By Riley Wyant | April 30, 2021 at 1:04 PM EDT - Updated May 1 at 2:03 PM
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Roughly 45-50% of adults in Albemarle County and Charlottesville are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus according to UVA Health. Now, the vaccine supply in the area is starting to outpace demand.
Dr. Costi Sifri says a switch has been flipped: “I don’t think we’re seeing a plateau yet, but we are seeing a point in time now where the supply of vaccine is exceeding demand,” the doctor said. “The vaccine rates for new vaccinations, for first dose vaccinations, is starting to drop nationwide, and we’re seeing a bit of that here in our area.”
