The Ripley City Council was opened in an unusual way, with a story read by Mayor Carolyn Raider. The moral of that story lead into a presentation.
The mayor shared the speech by college baseball coach, John Scolinos, in which he asked a room full of baseball coaches if every home plate measured the same 17 inches. He went on to stress that even if a player has trouble with the size of the plate, the standard never changes, the expectation never is lowered.
Mayor Rader then presented the key to the city Amy Haskins and Wendy Staats from the Jackson County Health Department.
Vaccination clinics continue in Jackson County

COVID-19 vaccinations continue to be successful in Jackson County.
Organized by the Jackson County Health Department, the last two clinics saw close to 600 people get their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. March 4 will be an all-day event, with those receiving the second dose in the morning, and first dose being given in the afternoon. The National Guard armory has been utilized as the site for clinics.
Wendy Staats, who heads emergency preparedness for the department, said that 1,272 first doses have been administered, with 408 having received both doses. Approximately 1,000 people remain on the local list from which the department is working, with 3,255 on the state list.
