A Rimutaka Prison inmate has been taken to hospital following a suspected medical event.
The prisoner was delivering meals in the prison on Saturday afternoon when the incident happened, prison director Viv Whelan says, and staff provided first aid. An ambulance was called and the prisoner was stabilised before being taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, she says.
