A behind the scenes look at the new NBC29 Studios

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -After more than a decade of using the same studio set, there have been a lot of updates to the NBC29 studios.
In a process that took just over three weeks, it was out with the old and in with all things new. Our team set up new lights, monitors and an anchor desk. The revamp includes new robotic cameras that will allow anchors to move around the set, bringing you the latest updates.

STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - On Monday, the Staunton Sheriffâs Office announced the arrival of its new K-9 deputy, and sheâs a puppy. They are looking to Stauntonâs Elementary students to help name her.
Itâs been four months since K-9 Deputy Cara died tragically while attempting to find a gun someone had thrown out of their car. She is missed by many, but the Sheriffâs Office is ready to build on her legacy of helping other agencies.

According to the plan, the âM&A â The Emerging Local Forcesâ workshop co-organised by
VIR and NovaGroup was to be held on May 7, 2021 at Novaland Gallery (179 Hai Ba Trung, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).
However, with the COVID-19 situation rapidly growing more complicated, strictly following the instructions of the government and Ho Chi Minh City People s Committee, the Organising Committee decided to postpone the workshop to ensure safety for the whole community.
The new time for the workshop will be announced once the pandemic is under better control, with approval from the competent authorities.

STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - Staunton’s Arbor Day roots date back to 1889. It was the city’s first major tree planting in Gypsy Hill Park. It’s a legacy that continues still today with a message they are trying to pass on to future generations.
Staunton City Schools and Shenandoah Green together hosted a tree-planting ceremony at Dixon Educational Center Friday.
The Heifitz International Music Institute gave a special performance, Reverend Edward Scott shared a word, and Staunton Schools Superintendent Garett Smith read a story, but the stars of the day’s festivities were Staunton’s youngest learners - its preschoolers.

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) â An Augusta County sheriffâs deputy was placed on administrative leave after accidentally discharging his gun while responding to a call in February.
No one was injured, but the sheriffâs office says they take these situations very seriously.
The sheriffâs office reviews every incident where any type of force is used by deputies to make sure they are in compliance with their policies. If they are not in compliance, the sheriffâs office takes disciplinary actions, conducts investigations or puts individuals through more training.
