Green buffer zones to be set up around Margalla Hills
July 9, 2021
Islamabad: The climate change ministry would set up Green Buffer Zones around Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP) where no housing society would be allowed to carry out construction work by removing the green cover of the area.
According to the details, the ministry has received reports that pointed out that the green cover around MHNP is severely under attack by the housing societies that are mushrooming with each passing day.
The ministry has also decided to raise this issue in the Housing Committee that is chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. It is pertinent to mention here that a number of housing societies are carrying out construction work in the green areas located quite close to the boundary of MHNP. The proper demarcation of the boundary area is yet to be completed due to which the housing societies sometimes occupy areas falling in the vicinity of the MHNP.
