Undaunted by the pandemic and the challenges of celebrating while adhering to mass gathering guidelines, East Carolina University s homecoming committee has developed a week of events aimed at entertaining Pirates both on campus and elsewhere.
After plans for homecoming were postponed in the fall, the committee went back to the drawing board, said Emily Waters, advisor to the student homecoming committee. Before the winter break, they developed plans for two homecoming options one virtual and one hybrid/virtual. As the spring semester started, the hybrid option was developed and a new name was chosen: Home Sweet Homecoming.

We love Homecoming, especially when we were back in school, because not only did it give you a sense of school pride, but who doesn t love dances?
ALL the drama of Homecoming after an assistant principal was accused of voter fraud in the homecoming queen election!
The assistant principal and her 17-year-old daughter were both arrested earlier this week after they were accused of using the school district’s internal system to cast fraudulent votes in favor of the daughter winning homecoming queen.
Now this isn t the only offense the mother and daughter attempted because they also used the internal system to access students personal files and test scores.

A Florida high school homecoming queen and her mother, who is an assistant principal at an elementary school, are under arrest and accused of rigging the homecoming queen election in the teen s favor.
On Tate High School s homecoming night, 17-year-old Emily Rose Grover dazzled in a shimmering silver gown and sparkly crown and she smiled from ear to ear as she was escorted down the football field. But according to police, it was the culmination of an elaborate ruse allegedly concocted by Grover and her mother, 50-year-old Laura Rose Carroll.
The mother and daughter are accused of hacking into the school computer system and casting fake votes in the homecoming queen election. The results were so surprising and lopsided that rumors swirled about the homecoming queen election being rigged. According to reports, Grover had bragged for years about having access to the school computer system through her mother s position as assistant principal in the district.

Monday marked a homecoming for Dr. Philip Rogers first official day as chancellor at East Carolina University.
His office in the 90-year-old Spilman Building, tucked in a corner on the first floor facing Fifth Street, is familiar. Rogers once worked just up the stairs when he served as chief of staff from 2008-2013.
Some moms long for their daughters to be crowned homecoming queen; other moms really long for their daughters be crowned homecoming queen. Laura Rose Carroll seems to have fallen.
