For the last three years I have been a part of my schoolâs journalism class. This year has proven to be one of the most difficult years to create a yearbook.
Every year we create a 200-page yearbook that includes a spring insert. In the yearbook we cover all of our schoolâs sports, dances, homecoming, graduation and many other events. With the COVID-19 virus, many school events such as our spirit week and homecoming dance were cancelled.
With many school events cancelled and sports seasons cut short, a lot of creativity was needed to put together a yearbook. Since Wyoming Valley West is currently working within a hybrid model, most journalism students are working virtually, which can create a barrier when it comes to discussions involving yearbook planning. However, starting this week, the high school will be open for a full five day week for the first time since March of 2020.
