A Middleton-based foam manufacturer has won two prominent awards at the world leading furniture trade fair Interzum in recognition of its sustainable foam innovations.
The Vita Group, which is headquartered in Middleton, has developed a range of foams that utilise fossil fuel alternatives and recycled post-consumer mattresses to reduce the environmental impact of bedding and furniture.
The two products that won awards at this year’s Interzum event were:
Orbis™, the latest addition to Vita’s sustainable foam collection, was recognised for its advanced, environmentally friendly properties and received the ‘Best of the Best’ Interzum Award. This foam is created out of a partnership with Dow that will see 200,000 mattresses a year recycled into material for brand new bedding and furniture as part of the RENUVA™ Mattress R

The Vita Group has launched a new sustainability strategy which aims for half of its product range to have a sustainably-sourced option by 2030.
The strategy will enable the company, which employs 2,700 people across Europe and is headquartered in Middleton, to further develop its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy.
The company, which produces polyurethane foam, is hoping its Enhancing Everyday Life strategy will inspire businesses from within its supply chain and the wider foam industry to follow its lead and set similar goals to help drive the momentum for more sustainable manufacturing materials and processes.
Middleton manufacturer expands into Italy with £6.1 million acquisition Date published: 13 January 2021

The UK’s leading providers of polyurethane foam, based in Middleton, has expanded into Italy after acquiring a firm for £6.1m.
The Vita Group, which employs 2,700 people across Europe and is headquartered in Middleton, has acquired Italian foam manufacturer I.M.P.E. S.p.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of Natuzzi based in Naples.
Vita expects the £6.1m deal to complete in the first quarter of 2021. It will enable the business to gain an important foothold in Italy, which is the second largest furniture producing country in Europe and one of its largest furniture exporters.
