AAP receives over Rs 37 crore donations in 2019-20 | Delhi News

AAP leader and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received individual and corporate contributions worth Rs 37.52 crore in 2019-20, almost 57% more than Rs 14.61 crore donations declared by it in 2018-19. Prudent Electoral Trust contributed Rs 13.06 crore to AAP in 2019-20, constituting 35% of its total contributions, while New Democratic Electoral Trust donated Rs 1 crore. AAP has declared all donations received by it, and not just those above Rs 20,000 as required as per provisions of the Representation of the People Act, in its contribution report for 2019-20 submitted to the Election Commission. Prudent Electoral Trust, linked to Bharti Enterprises, made eight donations to AAP in 2019-20, ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 5 crore. New Democratic Electoral Trust however made a single donation of Rs 1 crore.

NEW DELHI: Of the two national parties whose contribution reports for 2019-20 were placed in the public domain by Election Commission on Tuesday, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has yet again declared ‘nil’ donations in excess of Rs 20,000, while Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) contributions have soared to Rs 59.95 crore, almost five times more than the Rs 12.05-crore donations it received in 2018-19. Among the major donors to NCP, which is part of the coalition in Maharashtra, were B G Shirke Construction Technology Pvt Ltd (Rs 25 crore), Panchshil Corporate Park Pvt Ltd (Rs 7.5 crore), Covid-19 vaccine maker Serum Institute of India (SII) (Rs 3 crore) and Finolex Industries Ltd (Rs 1.25 crore). Only one electoral trust – Harmony Electoral Trust – contributed to NCP, the amount being 1.5 crore.
