A significant percentage of farmland is owned by non-farming families in the region, and it would be nearly impossible for active farms to be able to afford to own all the land that they need to maintain the economic viability of their operations. Land rental situations often elicit questions among one, or both, parties revolving around fair value and what types of points should be in a contact.
UW-Madison, Division of Extension, is sponsoring a pair of free events to help both landowners and active producers better understand farmland rent dynamics and farmland rental contracting best practices. Theses live webinars are being held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 18.
