OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Law enforcement officers and families across Marion County were all here to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Amazing Grace was sung as the Fallen Officers Memorial ceremony honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice and for one officer Connor Tuck this meant remembering his great grandfather.
“Walking in the door of the police department every day I see his plaque and it’s just that I’m extending his legacy. I’m living through his legacy and I’m honored to serve the police department that he served and to serve the community that he died for,” said Ocala Police Sgt. Tuck.

ANNISTON, Ala. (WBRC) - Governor Ivey traveled to Anniston Wednesday to take part in National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.
Law enforcement from all across the state gathered to honor 11 officers who lost their lives while serving and protecting their communities. Their names were added to the Alabama Law Enforcement Memorial Wall at Centennial Park during the 5th Annual Alabama Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
“Here are some heroes right here,” says Dr. C.O. Grinstead. “You want to pattern your life after somebody, find one of these folks out here.”
Of those, 234 of those deaths were attributed to COVID-19.
The dearth of attendees at Montgomery Police Department s annual Fallen Officers Memorial on Wednesday emphasized the Coronavirus shadow hanging over the affair. Where there would normally be relatives of Montgomery s fallen officers and community leaders were instead no more than 25 officers and 25 firefighters standing in formation.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed spoke about the recent passing of MPD chaplain and Pastor E. Baxter Morris, who gave over 20 years ministering to officers and at times firefighters.
Finley noted the ceremony could have been even more somber had two officers shot Saturday been more seriously wounded.
