LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday sent a team of three ministers to Uttarakhand for better coordination with the state in carrying out relief works after the glacier disaster, an official spokesman said here.

Lucknow, Feb 09: At least 70 people from Uttar Pradesh are feared missing in the glacier burst at Joshimath in Uttarakhand s Chamoli district that triggered an avalanche and a deluge in the Alaknanda river system that washed away hydroelectric stations on Sunday, officials said.

Of the 70 people, 34 are from Lakhimpur Kheri district alone. As of now, 70 people from Uttar Pradesh are feared missing, including 34 from Lakhimpur Kheri, nine from Saharanpur and five from Shravasti, Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Goyal told PTI on Tuesday.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday rushed a three-member ministerial team to Chamoli in Uttarakhand to speed up efforts in tracing 53 people from the state who are still reported missing after the tragedy.
The Chief Minister has also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs to the families of those who are from the state and died in the tragedy. The cremation for the victims will be arranged by the state government. The government has also issued directives for free medical treatment of those injured in flash floods.
Uttar Pradesh attracts big ticket investment worth Rs57,000 crore

The Uttar Pradesh government has attracted over 77 investment intents from companies from 10 countries â Japan, the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Singapore â worth Rs57,000 crore. It has introduced digital tracking mechanism for MoUs. Active engagement of investors, nodal departments and nodal officers on the online MoU tracking portal has been mandated. Also, monthly review of the progress is monitored.
Awanish Kumar Awasthi, additional chief secretary (home) when questioned what steps taken to attract investors as UP is known for mafiaraj and is criticised for poor law and order over the years, he replied, Zero tolerance approach has been adopted. Property valuing about Rs900 crore seized by the government, illegally acquired including mafias and goons. We are taking strict action and no one is spared for illegal activities.
