When I was seven years old, the world was an entirely different place. There were no cell phones and no computers. We were not stuck to a screen. In fact, until I left home for college, I was not allowed regular access to what my parents considered an idiot box . While these idiot boxes have gotten way smarter, and navigating computers, tablets and phones are second nature to today s kids, we have to remember not to undervalue the importance of play and play-based learning.
