One club member hit out at Swindon Borough Council for selling off the facility in 2014 as its new owners went on to close down the Highworth Golf Centre in 2019 and are now hoping to build a three-storey driving range and adventure golf course on the Old Town site. Stephen Tucker has played golf at the club regularly for nine years. He said: “Since Twigmarket have taken over those courses, we have lost most of the facilities while paying a fee that is increasing every year.
