Two NY Men Arrested For Stealing Grease From A Restaurant

Officers observed 34-year-old William Urbina and 23-year-old Kevin Romero-Castro conducting suspicious activity near the restaurant and they stopped their vehicle and noticed an oily substance leaking from it. Police said that stealing grease and oil from restaurants has been an ongoing crime in the area. They were charged with conspiracy, larceny, and criminal trespass.

In a statement, East Lyme police Chief Michael Finkelstein said the thefts are an ongoing problem throughout the region and often causes damage to restaurant equipment. The first arrest came Tuesday, when police noticed suspicious activity near Charlie s Place, 26 W. Main St., Niantic. When an officer approached, a man ran into the wooded area behind the building.
