The park, established in 1997, “is a lasting memorial to all veterans who served, fought (and) died for our individual freedoms,” according to MarionFl.org, where information is posted about park events including the Quarterly Memorial, Memorial Day and Veterans Day events, band concerts and other programs.
The Vietnam War Traveling Memorial Wall has also been hosted at the park.
The park contains 5,000 memorial bricks, 200 benches and 100 commemorative plaques, the website indicates. I m blessed. The park is a beautiful and peaceful place and I can stop and talk to people. The park also has meaning to me; I have memorial bricks there for family members, she said.

Rethinking New Year’s resolutions can increase the chances you’ll actually keep them, said a number of area clergy and faithful.
Starting off the calendar year with the intention to do better “can be an activity of deep humility,” said Father Stephen DeLacy, director of the Office for Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.
However, he added, “I wonder if our humility goes far enough,” noting that many draw up lists of “excessive” aims that are “almost always a recipe for failure.”
Instead, “we need to recognize that we (should) start off small,” said Father DeLacy.
