Hillsdale NJ fire damages construction vehicle at Kinderkamack Road

View Comments HILLSDALE  Four homes were evacuated near Kinderkamack Road and Dwight Avenue on Tuesday morning after a worker struck a gas line, causing a construction vehicle to burst into flames. No one was injured in the gas fire, Hillsdale Fire Chief William Hassler said. Gas needed to be shut off in the area, though, as nearly 30 firefighters from Hillsdale and Woodcliff Lake put out the flames that engulfed the heavy equipment. Contractors started working in the area before 8 a.m. to replace gas lines and struck one during the work, Hassler said.  No houses were damaged by the fire. No outages were listed in Hillsdale on PSE&G s online outage map by 9:30 a.m.
