Former councilwoman Laketa Cole indicted on public assistance fraud

In the second indictment against her this year, former Cincinnati Councilwoman Yumorria Laketa Cole was indicted Wednesday along with her boyfriend on five felonies related to public assistance fraud.
Cole, 47, and William Cromwell are charged with two counts of tampering with records and three counts of theft.
According to the indictment, Cole and Cromwell manipulated records to defraud the supplemental nutrition assistance program, known as Snap or food stamps, for a total of $1,000 to $7,500.
Prosecutors say the couple also defrauded a publicly funded childcare assistance benefits program and a Medicaid program operated by Hamilton County Job and Family Services.
