THE quirky name of a Bradford street has not held back its house prices, according to a study. Using data from Gov.UK, regulated property buyers, GoodMove has analysed funny street names up and down the country to reveal which ones have positively and negatively affected house prices, compared with other streets in the same postcode area. They ve collated the research into an interactive tool, allowing you to explore the funny street names in the UK and how prices have been affected. All Alone Road in Wrose was eighth in the list of quirky UK street names where there was a positive difference in house prices between it and other house prices in the area. It scored a 26 per cent positive difference to surrounding streets.
A ROAD in York has the second rudest name in the UK, according to a recent study. The research, carried out by motoring experts at LeaseVan.co.uk, has ranked Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, York s shortest street, to have the second rudest name in the country. A spokesperson from the organisation said: This silly name is longer than the very short street it belongs to. Dating back to 1505, the original name of Whitnourwhatnourgate translates to ‘what a street’. Visitors to York can also enjoy a visit to Goodramgate and Back Swinegate.
