Jim Menton, the high school principal in the BOLD School District , and Patrick Beiermann, an assistant elementary principal in the Willmar Public School District, are the finalists to be the next BOLD superintendent. They both are scheduled for a second interview Thursday night.

OLIVIA BOLD School District board members have narrowed their superintendent search to two finalists.
After interviewing four candidates on Tuesday, school board members agreed to bring back two of the candidates for a second interview on Thursday.

OLIVIA BOLD School Board members interviewed four candidates for superintendent on Tuesday afternoon.
The candidates include: Patrick Beiermann, assistant principal, Willmar Public Schools; Cori Reynolds, community education director, Brainerd Public Schools; John Willey, superintendent/principal, Ellsworth School District; and James Menton, high school principal, BOLD Public Schools.
Board members have invited community members from the district to participate in the interview process. Board members will meet after the interviews.
School board members are seeking a successor to Superintendent Dale Brandsoy, who will be retiring from a 38-year career in education at the end of June.

Copyright workshop: May 26, 7 to 9 p.m., via Zoom or by audio only using a phone; when arts organizations record and post musical and theatrical performances online, whether as videos or streaming, there are a wide variety of legal issues involved beyond what you might need to consider for a live, in-person performance. An attorney from Springboard’s Minnesota Lawyers for the Arts program will cover copyright basics, music licensing, rights clearance and other legal aspects of online performances, for both presenting organizations and for individual artists. The same content was also covered in the April 27 workshop.
Willmar City Council unanimously moves the Recreation and Events Center and athletic fields to the bidding stage
At Monday s Willmar City Council meeting, the council approved the plans and specifications for Willmar Recreation and Events Center and the athletic fields, all to be constructed at the Willmar Civic Center. The Willmar City Council on Monday night gave its approval of the plans and specifications for Recreation and Events Center and the athletic fields to be constructed at the Willmar Civic Center, both funded by the Invest in Willmar local option sales tax. The projects will now be advertised for bids. A required land transfer and the athletic fields use agreement between the city and Willmar Public Schools was also approved.
