Nancy L Perkins 1956-2021 | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 20, 2021 WARREN Nancy L. Perkins, 64, was called home by God, Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, after a short illness. Nancy was born in Youngstown, May 15, 1956. She was preceded in death by her father, John R. Perkins Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Marylee Perkins of Boardman; brother and sister-in-law, John R. Perkins Jr. and Catherine Perkins of New Albany; nephews, Jonathan and David Perkins of Columbus; dear friend, Joyce Whelchel of Niles; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the country. A graduate of Boardman High School and Youngstown State University, Nancy received her Juris Doctorate degree from Ohio Northern University and worked as in-house counsel for Metropolitan Savings Bank. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person, who especially loved animals and felt a close bond with all of her pets.

Lagos council last year supported two local animal welfare associations to a total amount of 29,500 euros. During the course of 2020 the municipality and the two non-profit associations, “CCCA-Carvoeiro Cat Charity” and “Aryel- Lagoa Animal Protection Association”, signed two cooperation protocols that allowed the municipality to support and guarantee care of street animals.

AUSTINTOWN The Christmas season seems to increase generosity in adults and children alike, and the students at Austintown Elementary School are no exception. A committee of 12 students from preschool to second grade, along with staff members, have been collecting donations since Nov. 17 that will benefit three animal charities: Animal Charity of Ohio, Angels for Animals, Friends of Fido and the Mahoning County Dog Warden. The charities were presented the donations Friday at the school. Monetary donations and supplies totals $1,750. The program is called “Pet Santa Project” and Superintendent David Cappuzzello said he’s glad to see the students giving back.

Dec 16, 2020 YOUNGSTOWN Barbara A. Hreen, 77, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 14, 2020, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman. Barbara was born March 11, 1943, in Youngstown, the daughter of Steve and Mary Elizabeth Myers Hreen. She was a 1961 graduate of Ursuline High School and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley. Barbara worked as a medical transcriber at Forum Health Northside Hospital for many years, and before that, worked for an interior designer for a short time. After retiring in 2007, she remained active and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. She was also known for being an excellent cook and for being artistic.
