AUSTINTOWN — The Christmas season seems to increase generosity in adults and children alike, and the students at Austintown Elementary School are no exception.
A committee of 12 students from preschool to second grade, along with staff members, have been collecting donations since Nov. 17 that will benefit three animal charities: Animal Charity of Ohio, Angels for Animals, Friends of Fido and the Mahoning County Dog Warden. The charities were presented the donations Friday at the school.
Monetary donations and supplies totals $1,750.
The program is called “Pet Santa Project” and Superintendent David Cappuzzello said he’s glad to see the students giving back.
