NI Player Watch | Daniel Ballard nets his first goal for Blackpool
Blackpool’s 1-1 draw at Crewe in midweek saw defender Daniel Ballard score his first goal for the club since joining the League One outfit on loan from Arsenal.
The 21-year-old, who opened his account for the home side when he headed in from a corner four minutes from half-time, told the club’s website he is keen to now add to his tally during the remainder of the season.
“I’ve been waiting for my first goal and I probably could have done a lot better in the box up to now, but hopefully I can now push on and get a few more,” he said.

MK Dons striker Will Grigg scored his first goal of the season as the League One outfit snatched a late victory at home to Northampton Town at the weekend.
The 29-year-old, who joined on loan from Sunderland last month, gave the Dons a 2-1 lead before half-time, however, the home side still had to rely on two goals in the final seven minutes to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory.
“I m really pleased for Griggy,” stated MK Dons boss Russell Martin, “He’s been great for us since coming in and he’s been a really important signing already.

I read your article this morning about Will Grigg and his lack of goals. It is quite an easy answer. When you buy a goalscorer like Will you ask him ‘which formation do we need to play that will enable you to score?’.
The partnership between Niall and Kev was the best I’ve seen for years. If the ball comes into feet, Kev gets it. If the ball comes in the air, Niall does the work.
AS: What effect has Steve Cotterill had since coming in and how is he doing, health-wise? LC: Quite simply, he has transformed fortunes on the pitch. Town were on a dreadful run of form with confidence at a real low, they could not see games out under Sam Ricketts - Swindon at home was a classic example. Cotterill quickly improved on organisation, brought a back-to-basics approach and fitness seemed to improve. Results came, and with that confidence and momentum. Unfortunately, the manager is still not well. He remains in hospital, where he has been for three weeks now. Though, this week’s update was encouraging and - touch wood - it sounds like he will be out soon.
