Geneva nurse recognized with DAISY Award

Finger Lakes Health recently honored Michael Bonner, a registered nurse who works on 2 West at Geneva General Hospital, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
Bonner has been with Finger Lakes Health for two years. He was nominated by Elisha Gulvin, a patient’s family member.
“I have been in many aspects of the medical field and not all health care workers are as passionate about their jobs as Mike Bonner,” she said. “Mike blew me out of the water with his love, compassion and understanding of his patient’s needs; his gentleness; his informative communication; and his true kindness.

PENN YAN – Finger Lakes Health has announced updates to nursing leadership which have taken place over the past several months.
Jessica J. Coon, BSN, RN has been named Nurse Manger of Emergency Services. Coon has been with Finger Lakes Health for almost four years, starting as a staff nurse Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Department. In 2019 she was promoted to Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator. Coon earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Finger Lakes Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport. Coon lives in Penn Yan.
Katie DeMitry, BSN, RN has been named Nurse Manager of 2West and 3North at Geneva General Hospital. DeMitry began as a registered nurse at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in 2015. In 2017, she was named Nurse Manager at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital where she oversaw the 1st Acute medical unit and was involved in developing the Swing Bed program. D

Finger Lakes Health has announced the appointment of Audrey Torio as director of nursing at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
Torio has over 17 years of progressive nursing leadership experience within the long term care community in Central New York. She has experience in various settings with a concentration in geriatrics including skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and managed long term care. Torio also has a background in acute hospital care and oncology and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Elmira College, Elmira, NY.

Timothy L. Papsidero, M.D. has joined the medical staffs at Geneva General Hospital, 196 North Street, Geneva, and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, 418 North Main Street, Penn Yan as a hospitalist.
He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Southern Colorado Family Medicine in Pueblo, Colorado and earned his medical degree at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY.
Prior to coming to Finger Lakes Health, he was a hospitalist at Northwest Permanente in Portland, OR.
