THREE first volunteers have received the first shots of a dose of 50mcg of Nanocovax Covid-19 vaccine.
Developed by the Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC and the Vietnam Military Medical University, Nanocovax is Vietnam’s first Covid-19 candidate vaccine to reach the human trial stage.
A total of 60 volunteers, aged 18 to 50, were selected for the first phase of clinical trials.
They were divided into three groups receiving three doses of 25mcg, 50mcg and 75mcg respectively. The vaccination consists of two injections 28 days apart.
After the injection, the volunteers were put under health monitoring at the Hanoi-based Military Medical University for 72 hours.

VN PM urges measures to speed up Covid vaccine testing

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 21 asked vaccine research units to take strong measures and use suitable and creative methods to speed up vaccine testing.
Chairing a Cabinet meeting, Phuc asked agencies to create the best conditions for domestic units to conduct vaccine research.
He assigned the Ministry of Health to work with the Ministry of Science and Technology and other agencies to determine the vaccine production capacity of domestic enterprises to offer appropriate support measures.

Nice weather anticipated over Christmas, New Year
All three regions of Vietnam are forecast to enjoy nice weather, perfect for entertainment activities during Christmas, while spells of rain and sunshine are expected in the south, with extreme cold set to hit the north over the New Year.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, temperatures between Dec. 23 and Dec. 25 in the northern region are expected to fluctuate between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius.
Most notably, the lowest temperatures are predicted to hit northern mountainous regions, ranging between 7 and 12. The highest temperatures in northern localities such as Lai Chau, Dien Bien, and Son La will hover around between 18 and 25.
