Jets Draft Preview | Green & White Have the Capital to Add Quality at Linebacker Jets Need More Depth for the Shift to 4-3 Defense Apr 09, 2021 at 09:05 AM Barry Reeger/Associated Press
While Jets GM Joe Douglas and HC Robert Saleh bolstered the team s defensive line with free-agent signings (Carl Lawson, Sheldon Rankins and Vinny Curry) ahead of a switch to a 4-3 defense, the corps of linebackers may also be augmented in the NFL Draft, which begins April 29 in Cleveland.
The Jets have seven linebackers on their roster including C.J. Mosley, who opted out of the 2020 season and missed the majority of the 2019 campaign, Blake Cashman, who made six starts in 2019-20, and Jarrad Davis, a former first-round pick of the Lions who was added in free agency.

He’s back.
Per Pro Football Talk, “Brent Dougherty of 104.5 The Zone reports that Schwartz is joining the Titans staff. Schwartz’s official title is to be determined.”

The 54-year-old Schwartz won’t be running the defense in Tennessee; that job belongs to first-time coordinator Shane Bowen.
UPDATE (10:03 a.m.): Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, “The #Titans announce that former #Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will serve as a Senior Defensive Assistant, essentially a consultant.”
Scwhartz is no stranger to the Titans; he was on staff in Tennessee from 1999 to 2008, the last eight years serving as the team’s defensive coordinator.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. A look at what s happening around the New York Jets:
1. Darnold vs. Wilson? Former Jets quarterback Josh McCown couldn t help but laugh at how the narrative surrounding Sam Darnold has changed. Noting the fickle nature of the NFL, McCown told ESPN this week, Three years ago, it was Suck for Sam. Now it s,
Sucked for Sam.
The past three seasons have stunk for everybody connected with the Jets, and that s one of the reasons Darnold could be replaced by a rookie, presumably BYU s Zach Wilson. McCown, who became a mentor to Darnold in 2018 and has remained close with him, believes the Jets would be wise to keep him. He feels Darnold would thrive in a stable, quarterback-friendly environment, something he hasn t had.
