Vietnam reports 41 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

HANOI, May 7 (Xinhua) Vietnam recorded 47 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, including 41 locally transmitted and six imported, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 3,137, according to the country s Ministry of Health. The community cases included 24 in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, five in the central Da Nang city, and four in the northern Hung Yen province, among others. Most of the cases are contacts of previously confirmed patients or linked to the clusters of infections at two hospitals in Hanoi, one of which was designated for COVID-19 treatment and the other for cancer patients.

Several localities are strengthening Covid-19 prevention measures as the nation records more community transmissions.
The central city of Da Nang has suspended on-site service at food and beverage establishments. Starting Friday, all restaurants and coffee houses will not serve customers on the premises. They can offer takeaways, instead.
City authorities have also advised residents to stick to online transactions as much as they can towards avoiding direct contact with people.

COVID-19: 60 cases documented on May 6
Vietnam recorded 60 cases of COVID-19 during the 12 hours to 6pm May 6, including 56 locally-infected cases and four imported, according to the Health Ministry.
Among the 56 local cases, 16 were at the second facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, 12 in the northern province of Bac Ninh, 11 in the northern province of Vinh Phuc, four in Hanoi, 3 in the central city of Da Nang.
The national tally has reached 3,090, with 1,690 local cases. In the latest wave of outbreaks from April 27, 120 cases have been detected.
