Nepal earthquake of 2015: India begins renovation work of damaged sites Highlights As part of its endeavour to restore heritage sites in Nepal, India has started renovation work on Seto Macchindranath temple in Nepal’s capital city   Bengaluru: As part of its endeavour to restore heritage sites in Nepal, India has started renovation work on Seto Macchindranath temple in Nepal’s capital city.  The bhumi pujan in this regard was done by India’s ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra along with Kathmandu Mayor Sundar Shakya and National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sushil Gyawali, Hindustan Times adds.  India has promised a sum of Rs 580 crore towards the restoration of heritage sites which were damaged due to the earthquake that hit the land-locked country in 2015.

Restoration Work Of Seto Macchindranath Temple Commences As Part Of India’s Assistance To Revive 28 Heritage Sites In Nepal Source: Flickr India’s ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra along with Kathmandu Mayor Sundar Shakya and National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sushil Gyawali performed the ‘bhoomipujan’ of the restoration work of Seto Macchindranath temple in the capital city, Hindustan Timesreports. This is first of the Indian government’s Rs 580 crore assistance programme to conserve, restore and retrofit 28 cultural sites across eight districts of Nepal that were impacted by the gruesome earthquakes in 2015. The governments of the two countries signed Memorandums of Understandings (MoU) regarding this issue in August 2017 and thereby jointly identified the 28 concerned sites for this project too.

Nepal may buy 2 million more doses of Covid-19 vaccine from India: Health Minister

Image for representation Nepal Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi on Monday said that the country is planning to purchase an additional 2 million doses of vaccine from India ahead of its second phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive starting March 7 for people aged above 55 years. As per Health Ministry officials, around 14,000 vaccinators, including the mobile teams, will be mobilised to vaccinate the largest chunk of the population. All people in this age group have been placed in the second priority group, they added. While addressing the media on Sunday, Tripathi said that people s trust in the vaccines is increasing and the rule of priority is strictly followed in inoculation.
