When Indian River Consulting Group s Distributor Pandemic Revenue Index showed year-over-year growth near 20 percent in the three weeks spanning Christmas and New Year s, the expectation was that those weeks were likely considerably skewed by the timing of the holidays on business. That turned out to be correct, as the following three weeks reverted back to the mid-single-digit growth that the index had seen for most of the previous three months.
However, major growth in the newest PRI appears promising, as it showed one of the best non-holiday-impacted weeks since IRCG began the index nearly a year ago.

When Indian River Consulting Group s Distributor Pandemic Revenue Index (PRI) checked in with a reading of 18.4 for the week of Jan. 4-8 its third straight reading of at least 18.0 percent it appeared as if the PRI may have found a new and vastly improved normal compared the previous couple of months. And even if those high readings were partly driven by the timing of the holidays, it seemed there was a good chance the PRI would remain elevated.

Indian River Consulting Group s Distributor Pandemic Revenue Index (PRI) aimed to provide a weekly snapshot of how industrial distributors sales have fared during the pandemic compared to a year earlier saw a considerable slowdown in the pace of growth last week following three-straight major growth weeks.
Covering the selling week of Jan. 11-15, the latest PRI showed a reading of +4.6 percent, meaning that for the 14 distributors surveyed, their average sales were up 4.6 percent year-over-year. It followed readings of 18.4, 21.3 and 18.2 the previous three weeks, which IRCG noted may have been somewhat calendar-driven due to impacts of the holidays.
Though it was a second-straight deceleration week, it was the fifth-straight positive reading.
