Former Iona College student Kalum Jai Gulliver-Brown, 21, of Lota, pleaded guilty in Wynnum Magistrates Court on Thursday to a single charge of assault occasioning bodily harm in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance. The court heard the assault occurred at Fridays nightclub in Brisbane CBD in the early hours of November 22 last year. The victim was on a date with a friend of Gulliver-Brown and was known socially to the defendant and had entered the nightclub about midnight, the same time as Gulliver-Brown and his friends.

Four men accused of assaulting a spectator in a feeding frenzy at a junior rugby league game in south-east Queensland have appeared in court.
The men - aged between 19 and 36 - are each charged with assaulting a man, 35, who was left with serious facial injuries during the brawl.
The alleged attack occurred during an under-13 rugby league game at the sports ground at Wynnum, south-east of Brisbane, about 11.30am on Mother s Day.

Three of the men also face charges of assault occasioning bodily harm while in company.
