Image Source: IANS News Mumbai, April 29 : The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said on Thursday that it has decided to postpone the Mumbai T20 League due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the view of the current situation, President Vijay Patil ji and I, in my capacity as the Chairman, have taken the decision to not conduct the T20 Mumbai League till further notice. This is our way to reduce load on the state machinery and also making sure everyone is safe, said the MCA in a statement. The 2021 edition was to be the third edition of the league after it was held in 2018 and 2019.

Surat: On April 18, when Vijay Patil succumbed to Covid-19 at Valsad Civil Hospital, the administration could not reach out to his family members immediately for his final rites and so tasked cops to find his family members for cremation. However, when cops reached the address Patil had provided at the time of admission, the thatched house near Valsad city police station was found empty. Patil, a ragpicker used to live alone. With nobody to claim the body, police donned its humanitarian uniform and took up the task of giving the body a dignified send off it deserved. Valsad cops who have been tasked with finding kin of Covid dead, cremated Patil with all Covid protocols in place.

Navi Mumbai: More than 500 businessmen protest against new COVID-19 restrictions More than 500 small businessmen from Kharghar took out a protest march on Wednesday morning from Utsav Chowk to Sector 12 market in Kharghar. They claimed that followed COVID 19 norms and adopted the Gandhian way to protest against the decision of shutting down all shops except the essential services. They had also protested on Tuesday when the local body asked to close their shops as they were under the impression that their shops can be kept open from morning 7 and to evening 8 pm. Following which they came on the road and started protest. Some of the shops were also sealed by the civic body. Later police disbursed them and since all shops are closed under the PMC.
