HONOR RIDE: Patriots Pack to honor Clifton Brooks Sr

Barbara High Tribune Staff Writer KEYSER - The Patriots Pack will be arriving in Keyser Sunday, May 23, to honor city resident Clifton Brooks Sr. as one of the last remaining Tuskegee Airmen alive today. Brooks, now 99, was part of the Tuskegee Airmen - the African-American military pilots and airmen who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps - during World War II. They formed the 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group. He will be honored by the group with a parade and an event where he will be awarded a citation and plaque. According to John Brostrom, who along with Mike Stramaglio created the Patriots Pack, the riders will be leaving North Ridgeville, Ohio, and make the journey to Keyser to honor Mr. Brooks for being the hero that he is.

It is a battle they feel they are fighting alone without the help of local authorities. Doman, 31, was found June 13, 2019, at 10:05 a.m. behind a residence at the intersection of West Piedmont and North E Street. He was originally thought to have been a victim of a drug overdose and, according to family members, a relative was called to the scene to identify the body.

Keyser woman struck by vehicle behind downtown restaurant Mineral Daily News-Tribune Tribune Managing Editor KEYSER - A downtown restaurant employee was flown out to UPMC Western Maryland Monday after being struck by a vehicle in the alley behind the business where she works. Keyser City Police said the woman walked out the back door of the Royal Restaurant to put trash in a dumpster and was struck by a vehicle traveling through the alley at approximately 11:30 a.m. The rear door to the restaurant opens right out into the alley. The woman sustained serious injuries, and was reportedly unconscious at the scene.

Fireworks company would like to put more bang in Keyser s Fourth of July Mineral Daily News-Tribune Tribune Managing Editor KEYSER - A fireworks company would like to help Keyser put a little more bang into its annual Fourth of July celebration in exchange for a little storage space on city property. Tim Evans, representing the Starfire Corporation, has asked the Keyser City Council if the company could place a storage container on city property off Waxler Road to help make shipping and distribution easier when they provide fireworks for Keyser and a number of surrounding municipalities. “We’re looking for a place locally to store a magazine - basically a shipping container,” he said. “This allows us to reduce shipping costs and ease the logistics on our busiest shipping days.”
