KLCI reverses loss to tick higher, but gains seen limited

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): The main index of Bursa Malaysia reversed its loss and ticked higher in the mid-morning today, tracking regional markets, but gains were seen limited. At 10am, the FBM KLCI had added 0.18 points to 1,585.11. The index earlier slipped to a low of 1,585.54. Gainers led losers by 541 to 441, while 367 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.95 billion shares valued at RM1.39 billion. The gainers included Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Kobay Technology Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd and Petronas Gas Bhd (PetGas). The actively traded stocks included Key Alliance Group Bhd, Nexgram Holdings Bhd, Mestron Holdings Bhd, Dolphin International Bhd, AT Systematization Bhd, EA Holdings Bhd and Sapura Energy Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI fell 4.14 points to 1,580.79. The index had earlier climbed to a high of 1,587.51. Gainers led losers by 453 to 380, while 726 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 8.12 billion shares valued at RM3.08 billion. The top losers included Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, Tasco Bhd, Mi Technovation Bhd, Nestle (M) Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Amtel Holdings Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and Khind Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI had added 3.11 points to 1,611.18. The index earlier rose to a high of 1,613.01. Gainers led losers by 532 to 278, while 708 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was a brisk 8.28 billion shares valued at RM3.07 billion. The gainers included Genetec Technology Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, BLD Plantation Bhd, Widetech (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem), Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd, Dataprep Holdings Bhd and Ark Resources Holdings Bhd. KLCI remains lacklustre on reinstatement of MCO, proclamation of emergency

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): The main index of Bursa Malaysia remained lacklustre today following the reinstatement of the movement control order (MCO) in several states. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today also consented to the proclamation of emergency until Aug 1, 2021 to contain Covid-19. At 10am, the FBM KLCI had lost 10.77 points to 1,606.48. Market breadth was negative with 511 losers and 321 gainers, while 393 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 1.88 billion shares valued at RM1.26 billion. The decliners included Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Public Bank Bhd, PPB Group Bhd, Hong Leong Industries Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB), KPower Bhd, UWC Bhd and Euro Holdings Bhd.
