Jim Steinman, who has died aged 73, was the songwriter behind some of the most successful (and most sung-in-the shower) records in the history of rock music, notably the Bat Out of Hell albums with Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler’s chart-topping ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart.
