VIJAYAWADA: Expectations of impressive performances are high among all political parties, particularly with regard to their winning prospects in the municipality and corporation elections.
YSRC is hoping for a clean sweep in 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities while the main opposition Telugu Desam is equally hopeful of grabbing main municipalities and Corporations.
Most parties have unofficially conducted exit poll surveys and they are busy analyzing the results.

Political parties blame one another for the present situation
The Centre’s move to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), the corporate entity of the RINL, is expected to have an impact on the prospects of the contesting candidates in the Zone VI in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections, slated for March 10.
The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to dissociate itself from the issue, and had even opposed it initially, while leaders of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) are blaming each other for failing to exert pressure on the Centre over the years to allot captive mines for the VSP, which could have saved it from the present situation.
