28 popular TV shows you probably didn’t know were filmed on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island has seen its share of the small screen over the years even if you didn’t always know it.
Many TV and streaming shows have used the borough as a backdrop. While some have referenced Staten Island, others have transformed the Island into unrecognizable spots.
All that said, here are 28 shows you may not know were filmed on Staten Island.
Around 2008, The CW’s
“Gossip Girl” took over the St. George Theatre and a major part of Hyatt Street for filming purposes. According to those who recall the shoot, production crew spent two days taking down the theater’s elaborate Christmas tree and other holiday decorations in December 2008.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Julia Gargano is making good on her promise.
A year ago, as a parade of fans and family drove down the Westerleigh resident’s street to show their love for the “American Idol” contestant, Gargano told the Advance/SILive.com that she would love to put on a “hometown show” for all those who supported her once coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions were lifted.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. You’ll be seeing some new faces and storefronts at Empire Outlets soon, thanks to a new initiative it has launched.
The St. George shopping complex announced “Pop Up & Grow,” in which it will allot spaces to small businesses, entrepreneurs and local artists, giving them a brick-and-mortar store to welcome customers in-person.

And the restaurants are Enoteca Maria in St. George, VINUM in Stapleton and Sagara in Tompkinsville.
“I’m super stoked I made it three years in a row!” enthused Massimo Felici of VINUM 704 Bay St., 718-448-VINO; VinumNYC.com. He’ll be getting a red metal plaque with the face of the Michelin man to display at the wine-centric Italian bistro. Michelin tipped its hat to three dishes sausage meatballs with broccoli rabe, cherry peppers tomato and garlic plus a gorgonzola-topped polenta cake with sausage and porcini ragu. It gave kudos to the house-made Napoleon for dessert.
